Dear Yahoo!:
I want to write to my congressional representatives. Is email an effective means of communicating with them? And if so, how do I find their addresses?

Dear Sounding:

The conventional wisdom about emailing members of Congress is that more representatives than ever are willing to read and respond (in some fashion) to electronic correspondence. However, if you are trying to express a strong opinion on a pressing legislative issue, you still may want to call or fax them your views. As legislation comes to a vote, piles of faxes and telephone messages are more tangible feedback than emails that sit silently within the rep's computer system. To email to your representative, simply visit the House's web site and enter your ZIP code. The site will automatically format an email addressed to the appropriate member. To contact a member of the Senate, visit the official web
site for a list of Internet and postal addresses.
