Dear Yahoo!:
Is there a Web site where I can find if my phone number spells out a word?
Keith
Ypsilanti, Michigan
Dear Keith:
937! (That's "yes" in phonespeak.) To find more words and phrases using the letters on your telephone keypad, check out the following sites, all of which are collected in Yahoo!'s Phone Numbers and Addresses category (under Reference).

PhoNETic offers a nice system where you enter a number and the resulting words contained are listed separately. Simply click on a useful word and all the possible combinations that include that term are shown on screen. PhoNETic also includes foreign language words in its database (French, German, Spanish, Italian, and even Polish).

Perhaps the granddaddy of all phone translation sites, PhoneSpell offers a simple interface and some nice functions. Enter your number (or a portion of it) and the site will list all the interesting word combinations. You can also enter just the exchange (the first three numbers) and find all the available one-word combinations for that area.

Finally, check out DialABC, which provides a very cool grid layout of word combinations, allowing you to quickly piece together the most intriguing phrase for your phone number.
