Dear Yahoo!:
How come we never hear of tornadoes in Europe? Do they ever happen over there or just in North and South America?
Scott
Killeen, Texas
Dear Scott:
Judging by your Central Texas address, you live in the lower plains of the U.S., also known as "Tornado Alley," a region that definitely gets more than its fair share of twisters. Of course, that doesn't mean that similar atmospheric events don't occur elsewhere. We went to Yahoo! UK, searched for "tornado," and came up with TORRO -- the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation -- where they claim the United Kingdom "has the highest frequency of reported tornadoes per unit area in the world."
