Dear Yahoo!:
What was the name of the airplane that dropped the atomic bomb over Hiroshima?
Roberto
San Salvador, El Salvador
Dear Roberto:
To start, we searched on "atom bomb history." The results were good, yielding a single Yahoo! category and multiple sites. We visited the category, Military History > World War II > Atomic Bomb, and searched the listings and the sub-categories. Nothing obvious.

We revised our search to include a more specific term, "atom bomb history plane," and sure enough, we hit paydirt. The single result led us straight to the Enola Gay category.

There was only one active site about the B-29 Superfortress nicknamed "Enola Gay," but it offers valuable information on the plane and its historic mission. General Paul Tibbets and The Enola Gay, the "official site" of the plane's pilot, offers a chronology of events in the plane's history, a biography of Tibbets, and assorted images and text about the fateful events of August 6, 1945. The quantity and quality of the archival photographs make this site special.
