Sometimes, when you're searching for information on the Web, you just have to keep things simple. Here's an example: If you want to know something about an existing group, institution, or point of interest, just ask youself this short question: "Does _________ have a web site?" In this case, the question would be: "Does the Eiffel Tower have a web site?" Well, does it? To answer that question, we searched Yahoo! using the phrase "official eiffel tower." The word "official" is often an effective strategy for focusing your queries. Our search yielded a single site: La Tour Eiffel, billed as "the official
site of the Eiffel Tower." We decided to visit and see if we could find architectural plans for France's signature landmark. Sure enough, deep within the site, we found the "blueprints" of Monsieur Eiffel, with thumbnail and full-size images for 10 differents parts of the tower. This gallery of original plan drawings was located under "Tower Structure" in the "History and Documentation" section. As a bonus, we also suggest you check out the left-hand frame of the "Discover the Tower" page. It's got
a cool, animated cutaway illustration of the tower in its current configuration. Click on a feature (like the elevator) and you get details and photos in the right-hand frame. Bon voyage!
