Dear Yahoo!:
How many U.S. presidents were also lawyers?
Liz
Cleveland, Ohio
Dear Liz:
We knew we could find the answer in the U.S. Presidents category of Yahoo!. We clicked on Presidents of the United States - POTUS, one of the sites that sported the coveted sunglasses (cool) icon.

The site featured a list of links to "background information, election results, cabinet members, notable events, and some points of interest on each of the presidents." We didn't see a FAQ section or a search field, so we clicked on George Washington to view his biographical information. One of the facts was "Occupation" (Washington's was listed as "Planter, Soldier").

Although it wasn't the easiest way to find the answer, we continued in this manner, clicking on all 43 links. (The U.S. has seen 43 presidencies, but only 42 presidents -- Grover Cleveland was elected to two non-consecutive terms.) When we were done, our tally showed that 25 of the 42 presidents were lawyers.
