Dear Yahoo!:
Where can I find a list of plants for my yard that deer won't eat?
Christie
Hammond, Indiana
Dear Christie:
A quick search on "plants deer won't eat" provided all the information you need to help keep deer from munching on your plants.

We first visited Deer-Resistant Landscape Nursery, a site that can help "make your dream garden a nightmare for deer." We headed directly to the Deer-resistant plants section. The list of approximately 70 plants for sale also includes short descriptions and advice on where to plant them in your yard.

Our next stop was Garden Gate Magazine, which offered a list of deer-repellant plants with the warning that if there is a limited amount of food available, deer will eat just about anything. In addition, they offered a detailed description of how to deer-proof your garden.

Finally, at Nature's Glory, we learned that deer, in general, stay away from "hairy, spiky, aromatic, thorny, and leathery" plants.

So use the above sources, but be warned that plants ignored by deer in one region might be eaten by deer in another. Also, deer may adapt their diets according to what's available -- today's chopped liver may be tomorrow's filet mignon.
