First off, we kept it simple and visited the official House of Representatives web site. Not only does this site list every member of the House, its statistics page lead us straight to the information we were looking for. The 107th Congress has 62 women serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and 13 in the U.S. Senate. The House has a total of 435 members, four delegates, and one resident commissioner. Currently, two Congressional Districts are vacant, bringing the total number of members down to 433. That leaves 376 men serving in the House. The Senate's a bit simpler -- with exactly 100 senators, 87 men serve
in the Senate. The House site explains the status of delegates and the resident commissioner. The delegates represent the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, Guam, and America Samoa, while the resident commissioner represents Puerto Rico. They have no votes in Congress, but they can participate on committees. Currently, women hold the delegate posts for the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands, while the remaining delegates and the commissioner are men.
