Dear Yahoo!:
Is there a web site that can teach me how to draw anime?
Anonymous Animator
Dear Animator:
Anime is a Japanese style of animation that's characterized by stylized physical features, science-fiction scenarios, and varying degrees of sex and violence. Anime characters are instantly recognizable by their implausibly oversized eyes. As you might imagine, there are several web sites devoted to the subject.

In the Yahoo! Anime Fan Art category, we discovered Anime fan Baka Neko's great tutorial for aspiring artists. Covering topics like torsos, faces, hands and feet, and 3D modeling, Neko takes pains to point out the differences between traditional form drawing and anime aesthetics.

Perhaps the most comprehensive drawing tutorial on the Web is How To Draw Manga. Manga is simply anime in comic book form. This particular site stands out due to its mini-tutorials on popular characters, so if you're really into Rei Ayanami from "Neo Genesis Evangelion," you're in luck. You'll also find several How-to books for sale.
