Dear Yahoo!:
What does the tattoo on Angelina Jolie's inner left arm say? I must know!

Dear Jen:
After we figured out which of the many black smudges you were referring to on the "pillow-lipped" actress, we dug up the dirt on that mysterious scrawl in no time.

On her inner left arm, Jolie sports a quotation from Tennessee Williams -- "A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages." According to one devoted fan site, this particular tattoo was inked with her mother present.

So what does it mean? Well, in the actress' own words:

I don't think I know one person who I think can be completely who they are, every second of the day, who feels completely free...So it's kind of a prayer for everybody to find their happiness, to break out...Anything that makes us comfortable, those things are cages around us.

If you're interested in the rest of the ink adorning Jolie's lithe frame, here's a fairly comprehensive list of her markings. Of course, it hasn't been updated to reflect the fact that Angelina has been busy having any references to ex-husband Billy Bob lasered off her body.

And if you're inspired to follow in Jolie's footsteps and have the words of famed playwright Tennessee Williams inked on an appendage, here's a list of his quotations for your perusal. Personally, we think "I can't stand a naked lightbulb..." would make a swell tattoo.
