Dear Yahoo!:
Where can I find an easy recipe to make rice pudding?
Louise
Orangeville, Ontario
Dear Louise:
While the Yahoo! Directory boasts an amazing array of information, even we at Ask Yahoo! were stunned to discover the small but proud Rice Pudding Recipes category. Rice pudding enthusiasts take heed -- this is major bookmark material.

Becky's Swedish Rice Pudding Page, for example, covers the basics. Rice pudding is essentially well-cooked rice baked together with cake fixings minus the flour. For a nice soft texture, the rice should be cooked for over an hour.

Lu's Rice Pudding Recipes goes into detail covering the crucial second step -- blending the rice in with a heated mixture of milk and sugar along with flavorings such as cinnamon and vanilla. This will usually run you about an hour at 325°F in a greased baking dish.

FreeRecipe.org offers about a dozen variations on this theme. It's important to note that the mixture in the oven shouldn't boil. The Glorified Rice Pudding Recipe adds a crucial ingredient -- whipped cream -- and goes on to make a fantastic suggestion -- rice pudding can be served chilled along with fruit.

There's no getting around it -- decent rice pudding takes at least a couple of hours. If you're really short on time or energy, we did find this recipe for instant rice pudding that calls for packaged pudding. And for those truly challenged in the kitchen, there are always commercially made varieties.
