Dear Yahoo!:
How did "Yogi Bear" get his name if he never practiced yoga?

Dear Luiz:

Questions like this demand answers, so we made it our mission to solve the mystery behind the moniker. We began our search by cruising through Yogi's Yahoo! category. This picture gallery offered some rather amusing photos of Yogi riding a unicycle, but didn't really explain about the name. Rats.

We decided to cast a bigger net and hunted for Hanna Barbera trivia. On this site, we found one interesting nugget: Yogi's mannerisms were inspired by Art Carney's character in The Honeymooners. Makes sense -- they definitely have the same taste in hats.

The site went on to explain that the smarter-than-average bear starred in Hanna Barbera's first animated feature entitled Hey There, It's Yogi Bear. Eat your heart out, Steamboat Willy.

Finally, we hit pay dirt. According to Toonpedia, Yogi Bear is named after fun-loving baseball great and master of the wacky quote, Yogi Berra. Hmm, in retrospect this seems kind of obvious. But, who knows? Maybe the bear does yoga too.
