Dear Yahoo!:
Did John Lennon or Paul McCartney sing more lead vocals for the Beatles?
Michael
Caldwell, New Jersey
Dear Michael:
Let us take you down, 'cause we're going to...Yahoo!'s Beatles category. There's a ton of web sites devoted to what is arguably the most popular band in the world. And even though the band hasn't been together for over 30 years and two of the members are now dead, you can still find everything you could ever want to know about them.

A couple of fan sites sort all of the Beatles songs by lead singer. So all we had to do was count how many songs John and Paul each sang.

Turns out that Lennon sang 103 songs with the Beatles, while McCartney sang only 84. In addition, John is credited with lead but shared vocals with Paul 21 times, with Paul and George together eight times, and with George once. Paul is credited with lead but shared vocals with John on only four songs.

McCartney may have outlived Lennon so he could sing about Sweet Loretta Martin at the Super Bowl, but John gets vocal credit for the eggman and the walrus. Goo goo g' joob!
