Considering the Chinese language commonly uses between 3,000 and 6,000 symbols and has as many as 80,000, we're hard pressed to recommend a web site with translations of every Chinese word. But we did find a few useful sites about this complex language. To learn about frequently used characters, check out the USC Chinese Language Program. Click the "alphabetic order" link in the center of the page, and a long list of characters will load in the left pane. Click on any character, and you'll get a page with a large image of the character, plus pronunciation tips. If you want the Chinese
character for a particular English word, try this Chinese symbols vocabulary collection. Click on a letter, then pick a word to see a large graphic of the Chinese character.
