It's a shame clip-ons aren't acceptable in the business world, because knotting a regular tie can be a real pain. Fortunately, plenty of online resources offer step-by-step instructions. We started with the aptly named Tie-a-Tie.net. The site explains that a Windsor knot is "a thick, wide, and triangular tie knot that projects confidence." In other words, it's something Donald Trump would wear to draw your attention away from his comb-over. But don't worry -- these knots work even if you have normal hair. Here's a basic summary. Start with the tie around your neck with the wide end hanging
down about 12 inches farther than the narrow end. Cross the wide end over the narrow, then bring the wide end up "through the loop between the collar and your tie," then back down. Tuck the wide end into the loop's front end. Then tug gently on both ends, slide the knot up, and, unless we missed a step, you should be good to go. Of course, merely describing the process leaves something to be desired. We recommend you check out sites with pictures. eHow, neckties.com, and tieguys.com will all help you look snazzy (or at least competent enough to dress yourself).
