Dear Yahoo!:
Is the Jimmy Hoffa case still open?
Pete
Knoxville, Tennessee
Dear Pete:
The disappearance of former Teamsters union president Jimmy Hoffa is one of America's great unsolved mysteries. While no one doubts that foul play was involved, that's about all anybody seems to know for sure.

Hoffa disappeared in 1975, and neither he nor his (presumably decomposed) body have been seen since. Hoffa was declared legally dead in 1982, but his case is still officially open. In fact, as recently as 2006, the FBI was following up on credible leads regarding Hoffa's location.

According to Crime Library, Hoffa was likely murdered on July 30, 1975, in suburban Detroit by members of the Mafia. And because the body was never recovered, there's been a lot of speculation about Hoffa's final resting place. Is he buried in the concrete of Giants Stadium? Is he sleeping with the fishes?

Your guess is as good as ours. Still, there is hope. The Crime Library writes that there is "a special agent at the FBI's Detroit field office" always assigned to the case. If you have any legitimate tips, let the FBI know.
