Dear Yahoo!:
Where can I find pictures of Greek gods and goddesses?
Tina
Jefferson, New Hampshire
Dear Tina:
Our quest for pictures of the Olympians began with a visit to the Yahoo! category for Mythology and Folklore. Along the way we stopped at the Encyclopedia Mythica, a cool site that organizes mythological information by culture of origin, with a section on Greek mythology from Apollo to Zephyrus. Images are available here for some of the legendary heroes and deities; richly hyperlinked articles and genealogical family trees of the gods complete the offering.

Sunglasses are awarded to sites that, in the judgement of Yahoo! specialist surfers (our in-house gods and goddesses), represent the best of the Web for a given non-commercial category. Here are a few we found:

The Greek Mythology Link is home to a collection of images of Grecian gods and goddesses as they've been represented in painting and sculpture through centuries of classic and Western art.

Bulfinch's Mythology was originally published in the 1850s and subtitled "The Age of Fable or Stories of Gods and Heroes." The online "Bulfinch" extends our enjoyment by providing links to art and literature inspired by classic myth.

We completed our odyssey at a site called Classical Myth: The Ancient Sources, where we found a pantheon of pictures of the major Greek and Roman deities. Here's hoping that you find the god or goddess you're looking for.
