Dear Yahoo!:
Where can I find an encyclopedia all about citrus fruits?
Steve
Stafford, Staffordshire, UK
Dear Steve:
Our search for citrus began less successfully -- we couldn't find an online encyclopedia devoted to this genus of fruit-bearing trees and shrubs. However, we did find some resources worth bookmarking. The California Rare Fruit Growers Site mentioned above has information about unusual citrus: limequats, pummelos, tangelos, and tangors.

A visit to the Florida Citrus Web Site, produced by the Florida Department of Citrus, a state agency that promotes and protects the industry, gave us the idea of looking at Florida agriculture and horticulture educational sites. A little more work led us to the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, where a search on "citrus" turned up an encyclopedic assortment of articles and pamphlets about citrus culture, pests, diseases, management, and marketing.
