Dear Yahoo!:
Where is the largest Ferris wheel located and what are its dimensions?
Terra
Tucson, Arizona
Dear Terra:
After searching on "largest ferris wheel" and doing some extensive fact checking, we determined that the honor goes to the London Eye. A subsequent search on "British Airways London Eye" provided the specifics about this mammoth wheel.

Designed by Marks Barfield Architects, the Eye was built to celebrate the millennium and was scheduled to open on January 1, 2000. However, technical and safety problems delayed its opening by three months. Built on the South Bank of the Thames, the observation wheel stands 450 feet (135 meters) high and features 32 climate-controlled passenger capsules. Each capsule weighs 10 tons and holds 25 passengers. One complete rotation of the wheel takes 30 minutes and, on a clear day, offers passengers a 25-mile view.

However, if all goes as expected, Las Vegas, home of excess, will soon boast a bigger wheel. Plans are underway to complete a Ferris wheel called Voyager sometime in 2002. Located on the Strip, Voyager will rise 518 feet (158 meters) into the air. It will feature 35 passenger cars, each complete with a bar, restroom, and plush seating for 16 people. The wheel will spin at one and a half miles per hour, and take 30 minutes to complete one rotation.
