Dear Yahoo!:
Whatever happened to the five kids in the movie "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"?
C.J.

Dear C.J.:
Well, Charlie inherited the business, and the rest of the characters were either sucked up tubes, shrunken down to microscopic size, blown up into giant blueberries, or thrown down egg chutes. As far as the actors go, we're happy to report they all escaped the chocolate factory unscathed.

Charlie Bucket was played by Peter Ostrum. Ostrum gave up acting to focus on animals and is now a veterinarian. According to this American Veterinary Medical Association article, Ostrum was offered a three-picture deal after Wonka, but he turned it down. It sounds like he has no regrets.

Information is scarce about Michael Bollner, who played Augustus Gloop. According to several sources, he's now a tax accountant in Munich. Like Ostrum, Bollner never acted again.

The role of Mike Teavee was tackled by Paris Themmen. We found a relatively up-to-date biography on his site. He's held a variety of jobs, and appears at film conventions. These days he directs commercial casting sessions in Los Angeles. No mention of whether he's kicked his TV addiction.

Denise Nickerson played Violet Beauregarde. She also starred in the hugely popular "Dark Shadows" TV series. According to this article, she works in Colorado and has a son named Josh.

Finally, Julie Dawn Cole played the wonderfully horrible Veruca Salt. She's still "in the business" and has appeared in "EastEnders" and various other TV series.

For a look at all the actors as adults, check out the photos from their '99 reunion.
